Visiting locomotives day - Sunday 1 June 2014
Track open 10:00 to 16:00
Please note that the railway will not be open to to the general public for rides on this day.
Pinewood (Wokingham) Miniature Railway would like to welcome to locomotive owners and colleagues to a visiting locomotives day on 1 June 2014.

Our dual gauge 5" and 7 1/4" ground level track runs for almost half a mile through woodland behind the Pinewood Leisure Centre.  The railway shares the large leisure centre free car park, and we have some space beside the track to park trailers or for registered disabled drivers vehicles.  The railway has a hydraulic unloading platform to permit easy unloading of your locomotives and rolling stock onto both our raised (for steam) and ground level (for electric) locomotive bays.   We have some picnic tables available for your use on the day, and our chalet has a small kitchen area where hot drinks will be available.  The leisure centre also has a cafe open all day if you would prefer to buy refreshments on site.

If you would like to attend  please click here to contact us and book your place.  Please let us know what locomotive(s) you will be bringing and how many people will be in your party as this will let us to know how many visitors to expect on the day.  Junior members of the 7 1/4" Gauge Society (with or without engines) are very welcome to attend and will be given an opportunity to drive. Please note that all Junior members must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

If the event is over subscribed then steaming bays and running times shall be allocated in the order that bookings were received.  We will send all entrants information about the Pinewood site via email prior to the event, although you may also download it now by clicking here.

We are insured through the Southern Federation of Model Engineering Societies’ Club & Society Insurance Scheme, arranged by Walker Midgley.  Please present the following when booking in on the day:
- If applicable, a current boiler test certificate issued by the Northern Association of Model Engineers, the Southern Federation of Model Engineering Societies, the 7¼” Gauge Society or following a test confirming with the Examination and Testing of Miniature Steam Boilers (New Edition 2006);
- A current public liability insurance policy covering your model and which, if applicable, includes cover for: carrying members of the public as passengers, injury or damage caused by sparks and ashes, boiler explosion.

There will be no charge for entry, although Pinewood (Wokingham) Miniature Railway Society will have a donation box for those of you who have enjoyed your day and would like to help contribute to the continued operation and maintenance of the railway.

If you are bringing your family with you they may like to stroll through the woodland, which includes some wooden sculptures and a small lake for "pond dipping" (bring your own net and jar!).  There is also a children's adventure playground on the leisure centre site (which includes a "zip wire") and for the fitness fanatics there is even a fitness trail.
